The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is a registered charity (charity number 1067884) but despite its title, it is not included in the Government’s list of national museums and does not receive any Government funding or grants. It is therefore required to charge an entrance fee where other national museums are free of charge. The long-term survival of the Museum is dependent on the number of visitors we have per year and the money we can raise from external sources.
We rely on your support and there are many ways in which you can support us. As an individual, we have a membership scheme which will provide you with a whole range of benefits to take advantage of throughout the year.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Museum and we are always happy to welcome new volunteers to our team. There are opportunities in all aspects of the Museum’s work and we would love to hear from you if you feel you could give us some of your time.
We have a number of corporate supporters, many of whom have been with us since the Museum opened. We are always keen to hear from you if your business has an idea for supporting us whether it is sponsorship of an event e.g. temporary exhibitions or Falmouth First Friday breakfasts or whether you would like a more permanent and visible demonstration of your support e.g. gallery sponsorship, Bartlett Library sponsorship or sponsorship of a particular boat or object from our collection.
If you would like to make a donation to the Museum whether it is a one-off donation or a regular gift, there are different payment options available. You can also pay by cheque or, in the New Year, we will have a page on the new Virgin Money Giving website.
If you would like to organise a fundraising event in support of the Museum, our Virgin Money Giving site will help you to plan this and collect sponsorship.
The company is managed by independent Trustees supported by a small executive team and a large number of volunteers who give freely of their time.
