Lal on why this exhibition is so important


One of the masters, tattoo artist Lal Hardy on British Tattoo Art Revealed, the exhibition at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth, one of the largest of its kind.

Lal Hardy was born in 1958 and, has spent most of his time since living and working in Muswell Hill, North London. Lal first opened the doors to New Wave Tattoo in 1979 and is still tattooing there today. He is famous for tattooing footballers and celebrities though he points out that all his clients are celebrities in their own right.

The exhibition recreates Lal’s first tattoo studio from the 1970s.
