20 Years Since Museum Construction

Two men work on the roof of the Museum, with the docks and harbour in the background.

The building was designed by architects Long and Kentish who worked alongside Land Design Studios to create the exhibition spaces within.

Constructed on a former boat building yard the design was inspired by the sites historic past and was clad in oak by master shipwrights.  In 2003 the Duke of York opened the doors to the Museum and we have been welcoming visitors to enjoy our space ever since.
