To mark the launch of our major new exhibition, SURF!, we recently unveiled a refreshed gift shop experience, offering visitors the chance to take home a piece of Cornwall’s iconic surf heritage.
The new retail area sits beneath a vibrant orange checkerboard wall inspired by the 1960s Bilbo surf shop recreated in the exhibition. The revamped space showcases a carefully curated collection of surf-inspired products, ranging from functional items to eye-catching keepsakes.
Among the new additions are Dick Pearce wooden bellyboards, bespoke surf apparel created exclusively for the museum, and wooden surf wagon toys from Candylab.
We’ve also sourced a variety of sustainable products, including 100% recycled plastic soap dishes, key rings and combs by Hayle-based brand One Blue Eye, Ecotribo plant pots made from lost fishing nets, and Ocean Bottles made from recycled materials.
Museum Retail Manager Katie Newlands explains: “We’ve worked really hard on this collection and I’m confident we’ve got something for everyone. Everything has been sourced locally, designed for us, or carries a strong ocean sustainability story that aligns with the values of the SURF! exhibition.”
Visitors will also find surf-themed books in the display, including Mindfulness and Surfing by SURF! curator Dr. Sam Bleakley and Women Making Waves by Lara Einzig.
Alongside the new, surf-inspired products, we’ve retained all of our much-loved local and eco brands like Roka, St Eval Candles, LIGA and Dock & Bay.
Whether you’re in need of a last-minute gift, a sustainable option, or a piece of Cornwall, we’re confident you’ll find what you’re looking for.
The museum shop is open daily from 10am to 5pm and can be accessed without paying a museum admission fee. A selection of items are also available online here.
