Pay once and get in free for a year at National Maritime Museum Cornwall 

At National Maritime Museum Cornwall under-5s go free, and we offer a Children’s ticket for 5-17 year olds. Children & Adult admissions get you an annual pass, meaning you can return as often as you like throughout the year to make the most of your ticket. If you visit once a season your average visit cost will be less than £5!

Favourite year-round activities for families include looking below sea level in the natural underwater platform of the Tidal Zone and trying your hand at sailing a miniature boat on the Boat Pool. Head up to the Lookout Tower to learn about the comings and goings of Falmouth harbour – you’ll never look at the boats the same way again. The Skull Island Play Zone is soft play fun for little ones and the RNLI Rescue Zone offers some hands-on (and climb-on!) learning about maritime safety, all included in your admission.

For a quieter visit, our Bartlett Maritime Research Centre and Library is a wealth of information with a treasure trove of free resources and expertise if you’re looking for answers to your Falmouth Maritime Heritage questions!

Don’t forget that café access is included in your admission price, or during holidays, you can use the designated picnic area to enjoy your own packed lunch with harbour views. Our Gift Shop is free to enter and doesn’t require admission.

Affordable Arts, Heritage & Cultural Activities

Falmouth has a vibrant cultural scene to experience, and the award-winning Falmouth Art Gallery offers free admission. The Poly regularly hosts free art exhibitions that showcase contemporary Cornwall-based creatives and there are plenty of other galleries selling artwork that welcome browsers without the pressure to buy – a great way to soak up some creative inspiration and learn more about Cornwall’s art scene.

Book lovers shouldn’t miss Falmouth Library, which isn’t just about borrowing books – it’s a quiet space to browse, read, and often hosts free community events. The library also offers internet access and a place to plan your next budget adventure.

If you’re an English Heritage member, Pendennis Castle provides free access to one of Cornwall’s impressive fortifications, complete with panoramic views over the harbour and beyond.

Falmouth Lifeboat Station offers free tours on specific dates and special events, giving a fascinating insight into maritime rescue operations and the brave volunteers who keep our waters safe.

Outdoor Adventures Can Cost Nothing 

Falmouth’s natural beauty is completely free to enjoy and there’s even free car parking available at Pendennis Point, saving you money while providing easy access to scenic views and coastal walks.

The town boasts several public gardens and parks that offer peaceful retreats. Gyllyngdune Gardens features a shell grotto which leads to the Princess Pavilion, perfect for a stroll. Queen Mary Gardens next to Gyllyngvase Beach, offers manicured lawns and flowerbeds with coastal views. In Fox Rosehill Gardens, you’ll find amazing plant specimens while Kimberley Park in the town centre provides a fun children’s play area.

The beaches around Falmouth can always be enjoyed for free, whether you prefer the popular Gyllyngvase Beach and Swanpool Beach or want to discover quieter coves like Nansidwell.

Walking Adventures 

Falmouth is perfectly sized for exploring on foot. A stroll through town reveals independent shops, historic buildings, and harbour views. For more adventurous walkers, the South West Coast Path stretch in Falmouth offers spectacular coastal scenery and the chance to discover hidden coves and dramatic clifftops, with plenty more inland walks around Falmouth to discover.

Budget-Friendly Discoveries 

Window shopping in Falmouth is an experience, browse the antique shops for treasures and stories, explore independent bookshops and find vintage gems in Falmouth’s charity shops. Falmouth’s weekly markets on Events Square and The Moor are a great way to chat to local producers and makers, even if today isn’t a day for buying.

For a cheap (and authentically Cornish!) lunch, grab a pasty from one of the local bakeries and enjoy it in any of the town’s beautiful outdoor spaces. Just watch out for the seagulls who are prone to stealing them!
