Autumn Events at the Museum

What’s On at the Museum this Autumn

As September’s golden light gives way to autumn’s embrace, Cornwall’s legendary coastline transforms into something altogether more mysterious and alluring. The summer crowds have departed, leaving behind a landscape where ancient stories whisper and the sea takes on a darker colour that speaks of centuries of adventures.

This is the perfect season to explore Cornwall’s rich maritime heritage, and we’re thrilled to invite you inside the Museum this autumn as the weather turns.

Make the most of your annual pass this season, pay once and get in free for a year

Our captivating Autumn Lecture Series promises to unveil the darker depths of Cornwall’s maritime past – tales of shipwrecks and smugglers, tempestuous seas and hidden histories of Falmouth’s dark past.

We’re looking back to the past for inspiration in our Boatbuilding Workshop Open Day as the team build our replica SOE Surfboat – based on those that would have launched from the nearby Helford River during WW2 Special Operations Executive missions.

But it’s not all about looking back. We’re also celebrating the present with a very special mindful evening event inspired by our acclaimed SURF! exhibition. Take a moment to breathe, reflect, and connect with the ocean’s timeless rhythms in a truly unique setting for Deep Blue Silent Disco Yoga, led by Alicia Ray and Rich Lacey of Gwithian Beach Yoga.

As the nights draw in and October Half Term approaches, we’re preparing spine-tingling family events that will bring mythical tales to life for visitors of all ages. Daily shadow puppet shows filled with stories and song are included with admission. There are legendary sea creatures to discover in our sensory trail throughout October Half Term and mythical tales told after hours on the evening of Halloween.

Join us this autumn as we dive deep into the stories that have shaped Cornwall’s relationship with the sea. Whether you’re seeking knowledge, mindfulness, or family adventure, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall is your gateway to discovering the extraordinary tales that lie beneath the surface.
