Dr Patrick Newberry officially elected as Chair of NMMC Board

In September, former PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting Partner, Dr Patrick Newberry was officially elected as Chair of the Museum Board.

Patrick is an experienced Chair and currently holds roles as Chair, Non-Executive Director and Chair of Audit and Risk committees for several organisations across the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. He retired as a consulting partner at PwC in 2013 with 36 years’ experience working in the Financial Services sector.

He writes and is a spokesperson and public speaker for the financial services industry including appearing on TV and radio, and he is an authority on architectural history, gaining a PHD in Country House Studies in 2024 at the University of Buckingham.

As well as working closely with The Cornwall College Group and Historic England, Patrick’s charitable work also sees him take on Trustee and Chair roles with The Cornish Buildings Group, The Mount Edgecumbe Restoration and Information Trust and The Georgian Group. He is also Editor for The Journal of the Royal Institution of Cornwall and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Patrick’s appointment to Chair coincided with the museum’s annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony, an event that recognises the work of NMMC’s volunteers and celebrates long service milestones. It was the ideal opportunity for him to meet our fantastic volunteers and discover more about the dynamics of working at the heart of the museum.
