National Maritime Museum Cornwall has teamed up with the University of Exeter to offer a full-day masterclass: World War 2, the Fall of France, and Cornwall’s Covert Special Operations.
Taking place on Saturday 25 April 2026, this is an opportunity to go behind the scenes, guided by leading academics and expert curators.
The day combines four engaging sessions covering different aspects of a pivotal moment in 20th century history, including the clandestine missions launched from the Helford River right here in Cornwall.
Led by Professor Catriona Pennell and Professor Richard Noakes from the University of Exeter, alongside curators and experts from the Museum, the masterclass brings academic research together with remarkable real-world heritage.
The day concludes with time to explore the Museum and view its collections through fresh eyes. Refreshments and lunch are included, as is a full day’s Museum entry.
This event is designed for anyone with a curiosity about modern history, whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or simply want to learn something new in an inspiring setting.
Tickets are priced at £67.50, with a 10% discount available for students and National Maritime Museum Cornwall members.
