A Crafting Cornish Christmas – Workshops at the Museum this Festive Season

Cornish Coast Path Wreath Workshop

Celebrate the magic of Cornwall this Christmas with our coastal wreath workshop on Saturday 29 November, led by Angela from the Cornish Wreath Maker. This special session offers the perfect opportunity to create a beautiful Cornish Coast Path Wreath inspired by the shoreline.

Working with sustainably foraged and home-grown botanicals, you’ll be guided through the process of crafting your own wreath using  coastal treasures. From delicate seaweeds and shells to sea grasses, driftwood, sea glass and berries, each element tells a story of our Cornish coast. Your finished creation can grace your front door or serve as a stunning table centrepiece throughout the festive season.

Make a day of it by exploring our galleries before the workshop begins, and enjoy a complimentary hot drink and slice of festive cake as part of your experience.

Festive Linocut Printmaking Workshop

Join local printmaker and ecologist Layla Ousley for a beginner-friendly linocut printmaking workshop on Saturday 13 December that celebrates the beauty of the sea and Cornwall’s rich coastal wildlife. This relaxed, hands-on session is perfect for anyone wanting to try their hand at traditional printmaking techniques.

Layla will guide you through the creative process of making your own postcard-sized prints, drawing inspiration from the wintery coastal landscapes that surround us. You’ll learn the basics of image transfer, hand burnishing, and using a tabletop press. By the end of the session, you’ll take home your own small edition of handmade prints – perfect as treasured artworks for yourself or as thoughtful, unique Christmas gifts for loved ones.

Your ticket includes museum entry for the day, all materials and equipment, a hot drink and a slice of festive cake.
