Grants for School Transport

Transport costs can often be a major obstacle for schools to organise school trips, preventing them getting access to important learning and heritage resources. Here is some information about schemes that offer schools financial support towards transport costs.

NMMC Schools Transport Bursary Scheme

National Maritime Museum Cornwall has received funding to support eligible schools with the cost of transport related to school visits to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Successful applicants will receive £300 reimbursement towards the overall cost of transport, paid after the museum visit.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scheme, your school must receive pupil premium funding for a minimum of 30% of your pupils, according to pupil premium: allocations and conditions of grant 2025 to 2026 published by gov.uk.

How does the scheme work?

There are a limited number of bursaries available and the scheme works on a first-come, first-served basis. If your school is interested in visiting the National Maritime Museum Cornwall before the end of March 2026, your school might be eligible to claim.

For more information and to organise your school visit, please contact Seth Hall, Formal Learning Manager at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Contact Seth to find out if bursaries are still available. Your eligibility will be confirmed at the same time of your booking.

We will send email confirmation of your booking together with written confirmation that your school is eligible to claim under the scheme. When your booking and eligibility is confirmed, you will be sent a form to complete and return to us.

Bursaries are restricted to one payment per school per year.
