Looking for exciting family fun this February half term? We’re launching Ocean Lab, a new week of hands-on science adventures running from Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 February.
Get ready for fizzing rockets, robot artists, and mind-bending experiments that will delight curious minds of all ages!
Monday 16 – Friday 20 February, 10am – 4.30pm
Step into a world of weird and wonderful science! This interactive exhibition from Discovering42 transforms the museum’s Boat Hall into a playground of discovery. Your little scientists can navigate a giant mechanical maze, experiment with cymatics (the fascinating science of sound and vibration), and even become part of an electrical circuit using their own bodies. With dozens of hands-on exhibits and mind-bending experiments, there’s something to spark curiosity in every family member.

Weekends: Saturday 14, Sunday 15, Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 February, 10.30am – 12.30pm
Ready for lift-off? Join our rocket-making workshops where families can create their own DIY fizz-powered rockets. Using simple bicarbonate of soda, you’ll launch safe, fizz-powered rockets right here in the museum. It’s a blend of learning and laughter as you watch your creations soar!
Every day, 12.30pm to 3.30pm (last entry 3.15pm)
Unleash your family’s creativity with our Scribblebot workshops. Together, you’ll decorate your own mini robot, then watch the magic happen as your creations buzz and wiggle across the page.
Every day, 10am – 5pm
Embark on a five-stop journey through space exploration designed to engage all the senses. From the rumble of rocket engines to the sights of space, this interactive trail features hands-on stations exploring sights, sounds, textures, and smells.
Ocean Lab runs throughout February half term, with different activities available each day. Whether you’re dropping in for a quick rocket-making session on the weekend or spending a full day exploring the Mobile Marvels Exhibition mid-week, there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained.
So gather the crew, put on those safety goggles, and prepare for a week of scientific discoveries and creative adventures at National Maritime Museum Cornwall.
