Celebrating one year of SURF! with The Falmouth

Our major exhibition, ‘SURF! 100 Years of Waveriding in Cornwall,’ opened in March 2025 and has attracted thousands of visitors to the museum over the last 12 months.

The exhibition was curated by surf academic, Dr. Sam Bleakley, and maps the evolution of Cornwall’s role as a global stage for surf innovation and activism, and a trailblazer in blue health.

To celebrate a successful first year of SURF!, we have partnered with The Falmouth, formerly known as The Falmouth Hotel, who have created a stunning new cocktail, ‘SURF!’

From today, visitors to The Falmouth can order the striking blue cocktail, topped with white foam reminiscent of our famous Cornish waves, and featuring a surfboard-esque detail on top.

The cocktail is made with Pisco, Lime, Gomme syrup, Blue curacao, and foamer, and is available until the end of April.

Kai Keating, Bar Manager, at The Falmouth said: “Many of our guests have had the SURF! exhibition high on their list of things to do when in Cornwall. Partnerships of this kind are a great way to cross-promote and offer a well-rounded experience to visitors.”

For every cocktail sold at The Falmouth, the hotel will donate 10% to help fund our educational offer here at NMMC, which includes workshops for schools, activities for home-educated children, and outreach work.

Within the museum, we marked the anniversary of SURF! with a themed Spring lecture series. ‘Breaking Waves: Surf History, Art, and Ocean Futures’ includes three compelling talks that celebrate Cornwall’s pioneering role in British surfing and address urgent challenges facing our oceans today.
