What’s On during Falmouth Week 2026: Discovery Quay and Beyond

Falmouth Week is back, and from Friday 7 to Sunday 16 August 2026, the whole town is set to come alive with ten days of sailing, live music, family fun and entertainment.

Whether you’re staying local or making a special trip to Falmouth there’s plenty to enjoy right on our doorstep at Events Square, Discovery Quay and just a short stroll away across the rest of Falmouth.

Here’s our guide to making the most of Falmouth Week 2026, from what’s happening in Events Square to the Museum’s own summer programme.

Events Square

You don’t have to go far to join the celebrations Events Square, is a lively spot in town throughout Falmouth Week.

• Falmouth Observation Wheel – Running throughout August, take a spin on the wheel for 360-degree views across the harbour and town. Bring your Observation Wheel ticket to the Museum and you’ll get 10% off admission.
• Discovery Market – From Saturday 8 to Sunday 16 August, artisan makers, crafts and local goods pop up on  Discovery Quay, alongside the harbourside cafés and restaurants.

It’s the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere before or after your Museum visit, with harbour views.

Out and About in Falmouth

Beyond Events Square, Falmouth Week fills the town with family-friendly entertainment. A few highlights to add to your diary:

• Friday 7 August – The Pink Wig Mermaid March kicks off the week, a glittering parade through town in support of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity and the Mermaid Centre.
• Saturday 8 August – Falmouth Carnival brings decorated floats, music and dancing through the streets.
• Wednesday 12 August – A packed Family Day culminates in Air Show Display over Falmouth Bay, alongside a rare partial solar eclipse.
• Friday 14 August – The week’s fireworks display lights up the harbour at 10pm.
• Look out for markets, workshops, storytelling, face painting and evening entertainment throughout the week!

Meanwhile, at the Museum…

Our summer holiday programme, Maritime Adventures, runs right through Falmouth Week and beyond, until Wednesday 2 September so there’s no shortage of things to do indoors if you fancy a break from the sun (or the occasional Cornish drizzle!).

• Set sail for summer play in our pop-up discovery zone, complete with dressing-up and a Maritime Adventure Trail to follow through the galleries.
• Ocean Tales with Mischief Mermaid & Friends – Every Monday, 11am and 2pm, meet a real-life mermaid and help solve sea-bound mysteries.
• Sailor’s Tales with Jenny Beare – Every Tuesday, 11am, 1pm and 3pm, set sail for a storytelling adventure in the Boat Hall.
• The Tidal Zone – Discover Falmouth’s harbour marine life through our underwater windows, best viewed at high to mid-tide.
• Boatbuilding Workshop – See our Boat Collection Manager and volunteers working on the latest restoration project, usually Tuesdays to Thursdays.
• Don’t miss our current exhibitions, SURF!, celebrating a century of surfing in Cornwall, and Surfing Memories, a community exhibition of surfing holiday photographs.
