Saturday 13 December, 2pm – 5pm
Join local printmaker and ecologist Layla Ousley for a beginner-friendly linocut printmaking workshop inspired by the beauty of the sea and its rich coastal wildlife.
In this relaxed, hands-on session, Layla will guide you through the process of creating your own postcard-sized prints, drawing inspiration from the wintery coastal landscapes that surround us. You’ll learn the basics of image transfer, hand burnishing, and using a tabletop press — and by the end of the session, you’ll take home your own small edition of handmade prints, perfect to keep as your own treasured artworks or to share as lovely handmade Christmas gifts.

All materials are provided, along with tea, coffee and cake to keep you cosy as you create. Please bring an apron or wear old clothes, plus a sketch pad and any simple images or ideas you’d like to work from.
Celebrate the festive season with creativity, community, and the joy of printmaking!

All materials will be provided, but please bring an apron or old clothes, and your sketchbook if you have one.
Layla recommends arriving with a few simple design ideas in mind. Feel free to bring any reference images, sketches, or photos that inspire you. During the workshop, you’ll develop your ideas into a linocut design and explore techniques for transferring, carving, and printing your image.
If this is your first time trying lino printing, it’s best to start with something bold and uncomplicated — clean lines and clear shapes work beautifully.
