The Maritime Museum offers an inspirational experience to overseas students wishing to explore the rich maritime heritage of Cornwall, or simply to enhance their language skills in an exciting environment.
All our displays are designed to be interactive and engaging to young people. A visit typically lasts 2 hours.
Key features include amazing artefacts, hands-on exhibits and audio-visual displays exploring stories of wrecks and rescues, fishing, smuggling, historic boatbuilding and racing. There’s also time to go ‘under water’ in our Tidal Zone then up 29m to the top of our Look-out Tower – not forgetting the radio-controlled sail boats on our large boat pool.
As part of a pre-booked group visit, we offer:
- special education discount price of £3.50 per student
- free visits to supervising adults and group leaders
- risk assessment advice
- dedicated base area to eat packed lunches (subject to availability)
- basic text-only guides in French, German, Italian and Dutch.
Includes new Bi-lingual welcome and orientation
As part of a pre-booked visit, this new 20min presentation introduces students to the history and highlights of the Museum to ensure they get the best out of their time in the building. The presentation finishes with a Q&A session to encourage students to ask their own questions. Subject to availability.
