About The Wave Project
The Wave Project transforms young lives through Surf Therapy, harnessing the power of the ocean to support children and young people facing mental health challenges across Cornwall and the UK.
Right now, 1 in 5 children in the UK have a mental health condition, and over 500,000 are still waiting for support. These staggering numbers highlight the urgent need for action. The Wave Project is committed to tackling this crisis head-on, offering life-changing interventions that help young people build confidence, manage anxiety and improve their wellbeing.
It all started with a simple but powerful idea: surfing as therapy. The charity’s Surf Therapy programmes provide a safe and supportive space where children can explore their emotions, develop coping strategies and find inner strength while connecting with a caring community.
Beyond Surf Therapy, The Wave Project also runs Accessible Surfing programmes for individuals with physical and invisible disabilities, many of whom also face mental health challenges. This initiative is breaking down barriers, and creating a sense of belonging for children and young people across Cornwall and beyond. By supporting The Wave Project, you can help more children thrive and build a brighter future.
