Saturday 5 April – Monday 21 April 2025
This Easter holidays, join the Cornish Caretakers as they bring Cornish history to life in an informative and hilarious show ‘The Cornish Caretakers and the Treasures of Cornishness’ at National Maritime Museum Cornwall. There will be Make & Take workshops and a Museum trail for families to join in with too.
Shows every day at 11.00am, 1.00pm and 3.00pm.
Performances run for around 25 minutes.
The Cornish Caretakers are the spikey Mrs Trevaskis Trelawney Tremayne and the hapless (but passionate about Cornish history) Mr Rodda Rowe Rescorla. Together, in their own unique way, it’s their job to look after and promote the history of Cornwall to children and their families from all over the world.
The Cornish Caretakers return to the Museum in 2025 for the SURF! exhibition, with another chest of Cornish magic brought up from the depths of the archives.
The Cornish Caretakers and the Treasures of Cornishness stars Edward Rowe (Cornwall’s Kernow King!), Mimi Attenburrow and Gareth Cooper.
Every day, 12.30pm to 3.30pm (last entry 3.15pm).
Get creative in crafting sessions inspired by our new blockbuster exhibition SURF! Make your own moving surfing character and choose an inspirational quote to add to your design, that will motivate you to take on a challenge!
Every day, 10am – 5pm.
Hunt around the museum for some famous treasures of Cornishness! Collect stamps as you go to claim your reward.
Mimi has a BA in Acting from the Arts University Bournemouth and in 2021 graduated with an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Exeter.
Mimi also dabbles in stand-up which started (much to her surprise) in winning Cornwall Comedian of the Year 2022 on her third ever gig.
Edward is a writer, actor and comedian from Cornwall. He is a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh and his Bardic name is Mab Tregarrek – Son of Roche.
Edward has written, produced and appeared in: Trevithick!, Hireth, The Coliseum and four children’s shows, The Cornish Caretakers.
Gareth is a Cornish actor & voice-over artist who has spent the last twenty years performing in theatre, film, TV, radio, commercials, animations, sketches and web-series.
When not pretending to be other people, Gareth works as a writer, comedian, composer and musician. He’s written and performed award-winning comedy (with sketch group, Delete the Banjax), played the drums in rock and punk bands (Last Picture Show and The Dash), written the music and lyrics for a West End musical (The Hunting of the Snark), adapted various children’s books for theatre, and composed songs based on UK folklore (with a special emphasis on Cornwall).
Explore 15 galleries over five floors, jump aboard boats, climb the 100-foot Lookout Tower, go underwater in the Tidal Zone, uncover ocean adventures and survival stories and sail miniature boats on the Boat Pool. Plus, have fun in Skull Island Play Zone and learn about Cornish maritime history in our Cornwall galleries.
The Easter holidays activities are FREE as part of the Museum’s annual admission fee. Pay once and get in free for a year.
