Surfing Memories – Share Your Memories

Help Us Create our Community Exhibition

We’re creating a unique community exhibition that celebrates the joy, adventure, and nostalgia of surfing holidays in Cornwall across generations. ‘Surfing Memories’ will showcase photographs that capture our shared coastal experiences, from seaside adventures of days gone by with vintage boards to more recent sun-soaked beach days with the family.

What We’re Looking For

To create the exhibition, we’re asking for your photographs of Cornwall trips, seaside memories, surfing holiday snaps, beach days over the years, looking back to the past and right up to the present day. The exhibition will be an eclectic mix of images capturing memories of coastal Cornwall through the decades and we’d love to see your Surfing Memories.

How to Contribute

Digital Submissions

If you have digital copies of photographs that fit the brief, and permission to share them, please use the submission form below to send them to us along with the details of where in Cornwall the image was taken, and what the photograph means to you.

In-Person Scanning Sessions

Don’t have digital copies? Bring your printed photographs or negatives to our drop-in scanning station next to our Museum admissions desk on these dates:

Thursday 5, Thursday 12, Thursday 19 June, 10.00am – 12.00pm
Thursday 3, Thursday 10, Thursday 17 July, 10.00am – 12.00pm

Dr. Jenny Lee, our Exhibitions and Special Projects Curator, will be available to scan your images and record their stories at these sessions.

Please note that while we appreciate all submissions, we won’t be able to include every photograph in the final exhibition. If you have any questions about the exhibition or submitting your photographs please contact surfingmemories@nmmc.co.uk
