Celebrating Kids in Museums

Monday 17 November 11am – 12.30pm

If you’re visiting us on Monday 17 November you’ll find Museum Minnows (visitors under 5!) are taking over some of our spaces.

Families with under 5s are invited to come and join the fun!

We’re celebrating children in the Museum ahead of Friday 22 November – which is Kids in Museums Takeover Day. Museums, galleries, historic homes, archives and heritage sites across England are taken over by children and young people for the event. Supported by Arts Council England funding, charity Kids in Museums launched Takeover Day in 2010. Last year, over 160 heritage organisations and 5,500 young people took part.

Here’s how you can join in…

Minnows Tales Takeover

11am-11.30am:  Visitors under 5 will be taking over the Minnows Tales session in our Cornish Quayside Gallery, choosing which ocean-inspired stories to read aloud and joining in with songs along the way.

Minnows Makes Boat Pool Takeover

11.30am- 12.30pm: Families will be taking over the Boat Pool, and constructing their own tray boats to sail across.

If you can’t join us for our Kids in Museums Takeover Events on Monday 17 November, we host Minnows Tales, a lively storytelling and sing-a-long, perfect for under 5s, every Monday at 11am during term time and get creative with your little one in Minnows Makes, craft sessions designed especially for under 5s using our most colourful and vibrant art supplies.
