Our new Lecture Series focuses on women and the sea. From women in the Royal Navy to Mary Bryant and characters from across Cornwall’s coastline.
2023 is a big year for National Maritime Museum Cornwall. It’s our 20th birthday and so we’re creating a brand new exhibition that takes a look at the highs and lows of our 20 year history.

Our new presentation of the Boat Hall highlights the role that small boats play in shaping the world we live in.
When Falmouth was chosen as the terminus of the international maritime mail routes in 1688, the Packet Service quickly became established in the town.
Cornwall experienced the worst blizzard in 200 years in March 1891, wrecking four ships on the Manacles, a treacherous group of rocks off the Lizard peninsula.

Dr Elaine Murphy, University of Plymouth, explores some of the ways in which women engaged with the navy in the 17th and 18th centuries.
