Aliens of the Deep with Explorer Dome

This February half term become an astronaut and rocket into outer space. Along with Explorer Dome discover whether aliens really exist and the fascinating links between space and our deep seas. With space themed live crafting too, we’re bringing the Museum to you this February half term. So get comfy from your sofa, and watch this space!

Free live online show

Friday 19 February, 11am
At the end of the week on Friday, join the team from Explorer Dome for a FREE live online show.

This fun interactive show will take a closer look at our solar system, discover how stars and planets are formed and what is takes for a planet to be able to support life. There’s plenty of time for a Q&A with Explorer Dome’s resident space elf too.

Make and Take at Home

Monday 15 – Thursday 18 February, 11am
Tune in on Facebook at 11am throughout the week to live Make and Take crafting session with Sophie, our Learning Officer. Our Make and Takes will be broadcast live from National Maritime Museum Cornwall’s Facebook page.

Here’s what Sophie will be creating each day:

Monday 15 February
Pompom Aliens
You will need:
• Ball of Wool
• Scissors
• Glue
• Wobbly eyes (or you could draw your own)
• Decorations of your choice, these could be pipe cleaners, pompoms, beads, tin foil, paper, card, scrap materials etc.

Tuesday 16 February
Crafty Aliens
You will need:
• Paper or Card
• Glue
• Scissors
• Wobbly eyes (or you could draw your own)
• Decorations of your choice, these could be pipe cleaners, pompoms, beads, tin foil, paper, card, lolly pop sticks, scrap materials etc.

Wednesday 17 February
Paint Splat Aliens
You will need:
• White paper or card
• Drawing ink or a watered-down paint e.g. Watercolour paint
• A straw
• A pen
• Scissors
• Glue
• Apron

Thursday 18 February
Alien Slime
You will need:
• 1 cup of flour
• ¼ cup of salt
• ½ cup of warm water
• 2 tbsp oil
• Food colouring
• Mixing bowl and spoon
• Decorations of your choice, these could be pipe cleaners, pompoms, beads, tin foil, paper, card, lolly pop sticks, scrap materials etc.
• Apron

Children should be supervised when completing these activities and things can get messy!
